While attending the University of Kansas School of Architecture in 1974, Mark Sumada formed a partnership to remodel historic homes in the city of Lawrence. Working alongside his architecture professors, Mark was able to hone his home building and design skills and pay his way through college. During those same years, Mark also supervised several new-home framing crews.

Suma Design and Construction has a long-standing and respected reputation in the home building industry. President Mark Sumada’s forty-plus years of experience in the home building industry have given him first-hand knowledge of every phase of construction. From site planning and design, to the final finishes -Mark’s attention to detail is visible. Suma Design’s second generation, Ben Sumada, follows in his father’s footsteps to continue this tradition of providing quality homes. From a very young age, Ben has been at his father’s side at job sites, learning each step of the building process. Assisting his father with supervising Suma Design’s projects is not only a life style, but a passion for Ben.

Over the past 40 years, Suma Design has mastered the traditional and tuscan styling of new home construction. Lately, our motivation has transitioned into a more modern style with cleaner lines. Suma Design has incorporated these new and fresh ideas into our popular designs. This refreshing look is expanding in the housing market, and Suma Design is at its forefront.
